Dock Levelers 101
Edge of dock vs pit levelers, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Air Powered dock levelers, capacity ratings, safety features, and common use cases (food distribution, e-commerce, cold storage, pharmaceutical, etc.) So many options, but how do you determine which is perfect for YOUR operation?
The first questions our sales engineers at Enertech will ask are:
1) What is your dock height and approach? (incline, level, decline)
2) What type of vehicles do you receive? Highest and lowest? (53’ trailers, containers, box trucks, straight trucks, vans, lift gate)
3) How often will the dock be used? ( 24/7, constant M-F, a few times a day, once in a while)
4) What equipment crosses the dock? (Weight and style of forklift, electric jack, carts, or pallet jacks)
5) What are the average and heaviest load weights? (Light retail pallets vs heavy industrial)
Using the aforementioned variables, we engineer an ideal dock leveler for your operation. Once we determine the size and capacity, we can provide a proposal and pricing for mechanical, air powered, or hydraulic levelers.
Additional options that we offer: full range toe guards, brush / rubber weather seals, grease fittings, barrier lip, integrated control panel, e-stop button, longer lip, insulation, stainless steel hinge pin, clean pit frame, run-off guards, specific colors, etc.)
At Enertech, we take pride in applying the proper equipment. We offer complimentary site visits to evaluate your dock and door conditions, verify field dimensions, and ensure the correct equipment is specified before installation.
